Prints like plastic, polishes like metal!
Proto-pasta Stainless Steel PLA is a dense material that prints as easily as standard PLA but results in heavy prints that can be finished post-print to achieve amazing results. Perfect for jewelry, costumes, props, figurines, crafting, robots, and more! **This filament is more abrasive than standard PLA. Prolonged use may result in accelerated nozzle wear.- Available in 1.75 mm & 2.85 mm.
- 125g is an un-spooled loose coil.
- 500g and 2kg are on a spool.
- All material is sealed with desiccant in a plastic bag.
- Usable on all PLA-compatible printers, such as Makerbot, Ultimaker, Printrbot, Lulzbot, and more!
In filament form, SSPLA is slightly more brittle than standard PLA, and requires extra care when handling.
Processing is comparable to standard PLA. No heated bed required. Due to increased brittleness, process may be less consistent on smaller nozzles and/or bowden type machines. In our experience, good results were achieved when printing at 190C-210C using a .5mm nozzle and direct-drive spring loaded pinch-roll style extrusion head. We frequently use 0.4mm and print as high as 240C.
